From News Center (Text by International Exchange Department (School of International Education) Huang Jianxia Photo by School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering He Yinhuan) To strengthen the cultural exchanges between China and Indonesia, further deepen the two countries' educational cooperation, and enhance mutual understanding among their young people, LZPU sent a delegation of 16 teachers and students with Xu Yuanjun, full-time teacher of School of Automotive Engineering, as the competition instructor and Huang Jianxia, counselor of School of International Education, as the leading teacher to participate in the skills competition and cultural exchange activities held in China-ASEAN Institute of Modern Craftsmanship, Politeknik Negeri Jakarta (PNJ) and the sub-center Politeknik Negeri Sriwijaya, Indonesia (POLSRI) from September 24 to 29, 2024.

The students participated in the 7th Global Technical Skills Competition 2024 hosted by PT. LiuGong Machinery Indonesia and organized by POLSRI, and then in cultural exchange activities by POLSRI and PNJ, respectively. The cultural exchange activities include visiting campus, doing professional exchanges, experiencing and learning traditional Indonesian dances, making the traditional Indonesian food Pempek, learning the traditional Indonesian musical instrument Angklung, and visiting Taman Mini Indonesia Indah and Batik Museum. These rich cultural exchange activities have not only promoted professional learning and communication as well as mutual understanding and friendship between LZPU students and Indonesian students from different cultural backgrounds, but also boosted cultural understanding between China and Indonesia, thus enhancing the two countries' relationship and mutual trust.

At the end of the cultural exchange activities, Liao Hongwen, a student of the School of Arts, said, "As a student, I feel honored and delighted to participate in such international exchange activities. I know our university has carried out a number of cooperation with Indonesian universities in technical and vocational education and training. The cultural exchange activities gave me an intuitive understanding of the geography and culture of Indonesia, especially the latter one. At the same time, we have also made many Indonesian friends. I hope to visit Indonesia again in the future and have a deeper understanding of this country."

Through joint activities and in-depth communication, members have established deep friendships with Indonesian teachers and students, which presents one of the most valuable achievements in such cultural exchanges. Going forward, we look forward to cooperating and exchanging with PNJ and POLSRI in more fields to jointly cultivate high-quality talents with international competitiveness.

It is reported that in December 2023 the first China-ASEAN Institute of Modern Craftsmanship named "China-Indonesia Institute of Modern Craftsmanship of Intelligent Vehicle" officially commenced operations at PNJ. As the responsible entities for the first China-ASEAN Institute of Modern Craftsmanship, LZPU and LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd. have placed great importance on the project. LZPU, LiuGong, and POLSRI established the Sumatra Branch of the China-Indonesia Institute of Modern Craftsmanship of Intelligent Vehicle in April this year. Since the initiation of the project, we have finished the tailored training of 155 students in total. The first batch is 80, among whom 20 are trained offline; the second batch is 75, among whom 20 will enter the institute to study after the National Day holiday in 2024. In addition, the first 14 international students from LZPU's China-Indonesia Academic Education "1+1+1" School-Enterprise Joint Training Program also entered our university for study on August 26, 2024. These programs not only represent LZPU’s innovative practices in cultivating international professionals but also mark a significant breakthrough in our commitment to aligning education with industry and serving the development of Chinese-funded enterprises in the ASEAN region. It will provide new ideas and examples for future cooperation in vocational education between China and Indonesia, further promoting in-depth exchanges and mutual development in the field of education.
